Its history
Saint Theresa of Lisieux was a religious woman whose destiny is to be admired.
She became a nun at the age of 15 and spent her life in the Carmelite convent in Lisieux.
At the age of 24, she died of tuberculosis. She was later canonised and a sacred document made her one of the best known saints in the world.
Despite opposition, Monsignor Lemonnier was keen to erect the Basilica in her honour.
Supported by Pope Pius XI, the project was born in 1929. The building covers 4,500 m2 and has survived the wars.

If you come by car, a car park at the Basilica is available for all visitors.
During the summer period, a free pilgrimage is organised every afternoon to explore the building on foot for about 3 hours.
