Passing of the Olympic flame in Caen

On May 30, 2024, Caen will be the place to be! The reason: the passage of the Olympic flame, a true symbol of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games!

When will the Olympic flame pass through Caen?

On May 30, 2024, the Olympic flame will cross the Calvados department in Normandy, before ending in Caen. The reason: the Calvados department is labeled Terre de Jeux 2024.

So what to expect on May 30, 2024 in Caen? The relay race of approximately 8km will be made up of 33 individual relayers and 24 collective relayers. Departing from Hérouville-Saint-Clair, the Olympic flame will pass through:
  • L’Abbaye-aux-Dames
  • The Ducal castle
  • The Saint-Pierre basin
  • L’Abbaye-aux-Hommes
  • Place Saint-Sauveur

Many events are planned in Caen, particularly in the dedicated Village: concerts, sports events, gastronomy stands, etc.
The arrival site (the Jean-Marie-Louvel esplanade) will host celebrations from 3:30 p.m. The last torchbearer will arrive at 7:30 p.m. with a guard of honor, to light the cauldron using the torch. The day will end with a final concert from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Good to know: our 4-star hotel is ideally located near several sites on the Olympic flame route.
  •  Esplanade Jean-Marie-Louvel (arrival site of the Olympic flame): 10 min on foot
  • Saint-Pierre Bassin: 15 minutes on foot
  • Abbaye-aux-Dames: 20 minutes on foot

Come to Caen on May 30, 2024 to witness the passing of the Olympic flame, a unique opportunity!
