Every year in Normandy, the Les Boréales festival takes festivalgoers on a journey through different territories in the colours of the North. Since 1992, it has established itself as the most important festival dedicated to Nordic culture in Europe.
For its 28th edition, the Les Boréales festival honours Norway, a country with which Caen and Normandy have long maintained important relations. Based in Caen, this edition will be held from 14 to 24 November 2019 and will cover 39 cities in 5 Normandy departments.
During these 10 days, more than 150 events are organized in partnership with more than 60 cultural actors, including nearly 90 free of charge. Literary weekend, Les Boréales en région, theatre, circus, youth, dance, cinema, music, exhibitions, conferences and even gastronomy, there will be something for everyone!
Dedicated to northern cultures, the 2019 program promises to be rich and varied! Among the highlights:
Circus - Circus I Love You in HerouvilleCircus under a big top for an international company, between acrobatics, music, traditional and unconventional practices... A declaration of love for the contemporary circus.
Music - Tord Gustavsen Quartet in CaenThe legendary pianist, accustomed to trio formats, offers himself an incartade for an officer in a quartet at the Théâtre de Caen. A must see!
Music - Barbara Hendricks & her blues band in CaenThe legendary singer comes for the first time to Les Boréales to present us with blues and gospel songs, as well as her actions for peace.
Exhibition - Anna Eva Bergman at the Museum of Fine ArtsPassages is a new exhibition in France that traces three decades of work in 56 works for the most French of Norwegian painters.
