Best Western Plus Le Moderne Caen
This is a delightful hotel perfectly situation in Caen Center within walking distances to everything!! The huge castle, the abbey's, so many restaurants etc. Our room was comfortable, very clean and had a unique design. The Reception staff is so helpful and kind. Definitely try it!!
Good location, friendly reception. Executive Room a tad small compared with our previous experiences. That said, up on the fifth floor, we had two "opening" windows (prefer fresh air to air-con) so that was good! Closed, the room was well insulated re sound. Lashings of hot water, very comfortable bed. Elegant reception, friendly, helpful people on duty.
Caen is lovely. Great base to visit Normandy beaches and associated museums.

Stayed here with a rather large group of members of an Emerald Society. 45 people. The staff couldn't be any more accommodating ! Most of us had our rooms ready early, and the others not far behind. Ideal location, walkable to do many wonderful bars, cafes and restaurants. Many shops are ne t door or across the street from the hotel. The staff tolerated quite a large gathering nightly in their small lobby bar and were always so pleasant . The breakfast was lovely and plentiful . Great place to stay if you want to explore the Normandie region and venture to the D day sites and museums. Such quaint towns to be seen on the way to the historic sites . Highly recommend .
The hotel is in an excellent location (centrally located) for exploring the historic center on foot, where the most important monuments are located. The hotel entrance is in a pedestrian zone, but guests can access it for loading and unloading luggage. We, however, didn't know this, so upon arrival, we had some difficulty finding temporary parking a bit far away. The receptionist, very courteous and struggling to speak Italian (a rare occurrence in Normandy and Brittany, where we were traveling), informed us of this upon check-in. It would certainly have been helpful to have informed us in advance, even by email. In any case, it was no big deal. Upon arrival, we also learned that the hotel garage was full, so we had to park in a nearby large paid parking lot (€28 for 24 hours). It would have been nice to have known about this parking situation in advance, at least to have been able to reserve a spot. Otherwise, the hotel is excellent; the rooms, while not particularly large, are well-appointed and comfortable. Cleanliness is meticulous. Bathroom amenities are minimal (which is common in Normandy and Brittany). Breakfast is good, average for hotels in the same category. Service is attentive. Special mention goes to the receptionist on arrival, who was very helpful and efficient. Good value for money. In conclusion, a highly recommended hotel.
