An original exhibition not to be missed in Caen!
The Caen Memorial is the first museum in Europe to exhibit the works of the famous American painter Norman Rockwell. By partnering with the Norman Rockwell Museum in the United States, the Caen Memorial has achieved « a masterstroke »: bringing 40 mythical paintings by the famous illustrator of the Saturday Evening Post, Norman Rockwell, to Caen. A first in Europe, which is one of the major events in the programme to mark the 75th anniversary of the Normandy Landings and Battles of Normandy.A committed work
Among the 40 paintings on display, discover for the first time Les Quatre Libertés, works that all Americans know by heart and that have never left their territory. Through these paintings, Norman Rockwell shows his commitment to the war effort. The exhibition presents other paintings by the illustrator, painted in the 1960s, that highlight his struggle for civil rights. You will thus discover the painter's work during and after the war.A tailor-made room
To be able to meet these very valuable paintings, the City of Caen has carried out major improvements. Adapted to international standards for exhibitions of this scale, the temporary exhibition hall is the new showcase for Norman Rockwell's works until the end of October. The rates:
