Normandy Channel Race
A sporting event not to be missed during your stay in Caen?
The 10th edition of the Normandy Channel Race!
Caen, the starting and finishing city of the race, also hosts the Normandy Channel Race village. Located only 600 meters from the Best Western PLUS Le Moderne hotel, you will enjoy the proximity of the village, located on the Vendeuvre dock along the Saint-Pierre basin. During the two weekends, the Class 40s will be docked and a whole programme of activities awaits you.
Now a must-attend Class 40 double-handed race (12-metre monohull sailboat), the Normandy Channel Race will start on Sunday, May 19 in Caen and will mark the 10th anniversary of the event.
From Normandy to Ireland, via the English southwest coast and the Channel Islands, this demanding course with complex sailing areas is also a magnificent one-week journey for runners. All tactical games are allowed with a very high running rate.
For this 10th edition, the winner of the 2013 edition and boiling German skipper Jörg Riechers is pleased to return, associated with the French Cédric Chateau :
« For me the Class 40 is very interesting from a sporting point of view, there are many very good sailors in this class: Mini6.50, Figaro and IMOCA skippers are racing on this circuit. I come back this year with a lot of pleasure on the NCR because it is a very demanding race both technically and tactically and therefore very difficult to win, I like the challenge!!!! It's an offshore sprint, not sure if we can do the same result as in 2013! But I promise, I'll do my best! I think I will remain faithful to Class 40. Doing the Route du Rhum 2022 in Class 40 is already in my head and why not with a Cape Racing Yacht Class 40 Scow Version...»
